Corporate Social Responsibility

Festive Food Drive

It’s been an unprecedented year for all, and more so for those less fortunate. We wanted to offer a special NPO some relief over the festive season, and aimed to collect as many tins of food over a 6 month period between all our offices collectively. On the 9th & 11th of December 2020 we had the privilege to visit Huis Gideon, Lions Haven & Pea’s in a Pod respectively, and donated tins of food and other essential food such as rice, pasta, maize meal etc. to not only show our support to the communities around us, but also extend a loving & helping hand. Helping one person might not change the world, but it could change the world of one person.

R21 Corporate Park: CANSA Fun Walk

On the 10th of October, more than 70 companies participated in the CANSA fun walk situated in the R21 Corporate Park, with over 900 participants walking the set out route, raising awareness for Cancer. Adding our bit to raise funds for CANSA, more than R100 000.00 was raised during the event. CANSA was so surprised with this initiative that they want to implement this as a national movement.

Pea's in a Pod

The Pretoria-based place of safety, opened its doors to young girls who have fallen victim of gender-based abuse. Dr Annali Swanepoel, founder and CEO, realized the need for a therapeutic safe house as she counselled young victims of abuse across Pretoria and its surrounding townships.

Pea’s in a Pod proved immensely successful in charting the way to recovery for young girls and work closely with Social Workers and the South African Police Force. Since inception, over 60 girls have benefited from Pea’s in a Pod and the home is 87% black based consisting of 15 girls between the ages of 4 and 18 years old with two housemothers looking after them.

The home required assistance in repairing their outside bathroom and in addition to that, our staff assisted with:

  • Assembling and fixing of some cupboards
  • Assembling of towel railings, soap baskets etc. in their bathrooms
  • Repainting of the outside bathroom area
  • Applying wall stickers in bedrooms etc.

A special thanks to ClearCreative for sponsoring the artwork that was used to make the girl’s rooms, feel a little bit more like home.

Golden-Ager Outreach

With our current economical state, our Golden-Agers find themselves in dire straits, whether they were fortunate enough to plan for retirement or not. Investment firm Allan Gray looked at the rate at which its clients were drawing down on their retirement annuities and found that about 70% are likely to run out of money before they die. Middel & Partners Pretoria East, Centurion, Ermelo and Polokwane office reached out to three underprivileged old age homes by giving their time to lend an ear and package their love in a care pack that consisted of: a knee blanket, hand gloves, bed socks, biscuits, sweets, coffee, sugar, tea and a litre long life milk. During the outreach, we’ve managed to hand over a total of 150 care packages to residents residing in Manger Marine, Lions Haven and Mothwa Haven respectfully.

Blanket and Beanie Drive

In collaboration with SAICA, Middel & Partners Somerset West joined the cause of donating blankets and beanies to keep out the winter chills for those not able to do so. The cause ran from 25 June till 13 July with the aim of collecting 100 items at each of the allocated SAICA collection points. Monetary donations were welcomed in order to buy additional blankets and beanies on behalf of clients, not able to donate in time. Our donation helped SAICA to exceed their goal and happily reported the collection of over 453 blankets and 260 beanies that was distributed to City of Cape Town Safe Space project, Tygerberg Hospital children’s ward, Healing Hands Foundation in PE and Youth Solutions Africa (YSA) respectfully.
